Research interests
My current research interests comprise of various technical and theoretical aspects of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) such as Human Robot Interaction and user-centered design for specialized user groups, for e.g. the elderly and children.

Current Research
From April 1, 2011 I am employed as a post-doctoral researcher in the CRAFT lab at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.

The official website of my PhD project is now up and running here: ROILA.ORG I was employed as a PhD researcher in Human Robot Interaction on January 1, 2008 in the DI group at TU/e under the supervision of Dr Christoph Bartneck and Prof Loe Feijs.

Background
I was employed as a design engineer in User System Interaction (USI) at the TU/e for 2 years (October 2005 - October 2007). As part of the USI program I was involved in a company assignment at Philips Research, Philips Hi Tech Campus, Eindhoven for 8 months. I worked on a Gaze Interaction solution for an augmented shopping window. The project was under the supervision of Dr Evert J. van Loenen and Tatiana Lashina from the Media Interaction group at Philips Research.

Before becoming a design engineer in the User System Interaction Program, I did my Masters of Science (MSc) in Interactive Systems Engineering from the Royal Insititute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. My master thesis was based on Navigation for a Robot, aka Visual Simulataneous Localization and Mapping. The thesis was done under the supervision of Dr Danica Kragic from the Department of Numerical Analysis and Computer Science (NADA) at KTH.

My undergraduate degree was a Bachelors of Science (Honours) with a major in Computer Science from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Lahore, Pakistan.
