I am a Professor with the User Centred Engineering Group at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the department of Industrial Design, where I am the director of education for the department, director of the graduate school and the USI programme.

In February 2012, we launched a new journal in Child-Computer Interaction by Elsevier.

Before coming to TU/e I have worked as a researcher at  Queen Mary University of London and Philips Research Laboratories, Eindhoven.

I teach and research topics related to interaction design, ambient intelligence environments, persuasive technologies, with a focus on applications, methods and theoretical issues regarding awareness and privacy, mediated social interaction, and interaction design and children. In the past I have worked on user centered design methods, task modeling, formal specification of user interfaces, UML and software architectures for user interfaces.
